Thanks for the comment and for speaking up and know that you are not the only one. I had received emails from others who were also expressing gratitude. So it seems many wished to know. And yes, it seems important for the organization to be taken seriously that it must do the certain things that one can take for granted that other organizations do. For example, very important by law that the annual reports are made available, but yet it seems that for 25 years, they have not! That is, I can not see them having ever been available on the website even before the recent updating of the site, which is being cited as the reason why they are not found. The Internet Wayback Machine does not turn up this information. So this is one example. But a concerning one, yes. However, I must say that I am not an expert by any means, which is why I ask the questions. I am still learning the culture, the laws, and the mores.

Thank you for your comment. I like this metaphor: "I always check the water before I start stirring the pot."

Hmm, you said:
"Recently, it has been found out that the ICAN “moderators” have been BCC (blind copying) private emails that they start with members of the ICAN support group list. Now I will keep all my emails public to the list, which is a shame, because there have been the starts of what seemed to maybe be the beginnings of good private email friendships with these women who emailed be privately off the list."

REALLY? I must have missed this. I know there have been a couple of e-mails sent to me alone that seemed to have been intended for the list. Sometimes we hit "reply" when we should hit "reply all".

"But who can tell who can be trusted, and who is doing this and who is not? I think that this ICAN acts more like a clique or a club than an organization to be taken seriously."

Hmm, again this hasn't been my experience. But anytime I start up with a group, I always check the water before I start stirring the pot . . .

I definitely appreciated your questions. I recently joined ICAN, and certainly they must agree that accountability is a good thing. I hope you do receive some answers or that at least the BOD will consider becoming more transparent with regard to how things are run.
